NVIDIA recently announced the newest addition to the NVIDIA Jetson Orin family, the Jetson Orin Nano 2 System-on-Module, expected to be available in the first half of 2027. Successor to the NVIDIA Jetson Orin Nano, the NVIDIA Jetson Orin Nano 2 SoM will provide an efficient and cost-effective alternative to the more powerful and resource-demanding NVIDIA Jetson AGX Orin and Jetson Orin NX modules. The new variant follows the same principle as its predecessor, targeting energy-efficient edge AI devices while providing more processing power to enable enhanced entry-level edge AI performance. As an official Jetson Ecosystem Partner, Antmicro has been helping customers develop products based on every version of the NVIDIA Jetson platform to date, and we’re looking forward to extending this support to the newest member of the NVIDIA Jetson Orin family.

NVIDIA Jetson Orin Nano 2: better performance at lower power
The NVIDIA Jetson Orin Nano 2 is the newest member of the popular Jetson Orin family which, on top of the previous Jetson Orin Nano Super, includes the Jetson AGX Orin and Jetson Orin NX, each dedicated for different applications and workloads. NVIDIA Jetson Orin Nano 2 will provide 78 TOPS of AI compute, 8 GB of LPDDR5x memory and an 8-core Arm Cortex-A78 CPU. These features, combined with improved Tensor Cores and higher memory bandwidth compared to its predecessor, allow the new SoM to deliver 2x the inference performance of Jetson Orin Nano Super, all while keeping the same compact SO-DIMM outline. Jetson Orin Nano 2 excels at power efficiency, consuming 40% less power at equivalent performance. This makes it especially suitable for AI and video processing applications where low power consumption is critical: battery-powered smart delivery and inspection drones, robots, and edge AI vision systems.
Antmicro has been developing open hardware baseboards and compatible accessories for the NVIDIA Jetson Orin series from the very beginning, and with each new introduced variant we have been expanding our portfolio to help our customers in rapid development of tailored AI solutions based on the NVIDIA Jetson module that best fits their needs. The System Designer Portal also includes numerous complex devices that represent open source projects built around the baseboard, such as the Audio Latency Tester, a GMSL setup, a setup with an Oculink to 10GbE Adapter, and an In-Circuit Tester Assembly.
On the software side, Antmicro provides custom Yocto-based Linux Board Support Packages and drivers tailored to a specific platform, which can be tested using our open source Protoplaster framework and then deployed on your devices with our Remote Device Fleet Manager. Additionally, Antmicro’s likewise open source Kenning ML framework provides a complete toolkit for optimizing, benchmarking and deploying DNN models across different OSes and platforms, including NVIDIA Jetson Orin ones.
